Hi guys! Please help......
Moved into a new state and they want a pencil tracing of the serial number on my boat.
It's a 1960's model 13'4" Standard hull. The previous owner had carpeted the inside of the hull (I know, I know....), but now I need to find the serial number. Please someone with the knowledge please help.

Many thanks in advance.

Check out http://continuouswave.com/whaler/reference/FAQ/#Q2 I think you may find there is nothing embossed to trace on a hull that old. According to the FAQ it was stenciled in the gelcoat.

Previous questions on this indicate that the number is stenciled on the inside of the transom in the center as well as in the forward locker somewhere. I think that for that vintage boat the number is not molded in anywhere. I am sure that if this information is inaccurate, someone will correct me !

Ciao,
Ron

There is an example of a very old hull number in Cetecea (the picture section) on page 51, reference 51-05.

Tex, you may have to take the boat to the agency for a visual inspection. The stencil is the hull id # and was the serial # pre-1972. Regards, Jay

Taylor,
I referenced the pic in Cetecea 51-05. I still cannot tell exactly where to find the hull ID number. As my hull is carpeted, the pic is only partial help. I would love to take all the carpet out, but due to the fact I have just relocated, I don't have the time at this point.

Thanks......

Tex, do you have a bill of sale or a title?
Some states don't require anything under 14' to register. Regards, Jay

Yeah, Tex, I could not tell exactly where that picture was taken either. My guess would be that its on the aft wall inside the foward locker.

A 1960's model 13' would only have had the serial number stenciled on the inside of the transom, centered in the splash well. If it's not there, it's been painted over or polished off.

The hull number stencil in picture 51-05 that you guys are talking about is in the bottom of the bow locker. The metal tag that was attached to the transom was lost along time ago.

FOUND IT!!!

In the bottom of the bow locker under some paint. Just took a little elbow grease, mixed with sandpaper, and "SURPRISE,SURPRISE!, a hull ID number was there.
It appears to read, "5118", or "511S, and then has a small brushstroke following the four characters. I'm gonna assume it's "5118" and is an early 1960's model.
At least now I can get it registered and licensed.
Many thanks to Taylor and Gep, and to you all, for help in locating this hull ID number.

You might call Chuck Bennett at whaler. He
can tell you whether that's an 8 or S, and
give you a little history of your boat.
