“You can’t go wrong with a 17’ Boston Whaler Montauk (pre-2002.5). They may be short on amenities but theses boats ware among the most universally popular – from inland lakes to Artic oceans. They’ll stick around for a couple generations at least, because they’ve proved to be unsinkable despite operator error or acts of nature.”

Boating Life - May 2002

The Montauk was one of 6 they chose.

Amen! Trailerable, functional, unsinkable, stable, confidence inspiring, good looking, fast, etc., etc., etc., ...... Wouldn't trade mine for any other boat or model!

Great stuff Arch!! I also think that way, even though I like the Mass. made Hulls better, the shape and functionality of all the Montauk, and for that matter from 1961 to 2001 speak for itself. Jack.

The other 5 were:

Chris Craft Launch 25.
Malibu Sunsetter XTI.
Bayliner 2150 Capri Heritage.
Donzi Sweet 16.
Baha 20 Outlaw.

The Outlaw looked sweet also.
