Tomorrow is the big day! I will launch the '66 in the early AM on Lake Sonoma in Northern CA. After two years of work and many thousands in parts and materials. Many thanks to all of the posts on this great site! I plan on taking some photos of the boat in the water to show off its new paint, custom console and swing back seat.

I just installed the Furuno FCV-661 color CRT Fish finder and its new ICOM 402 radio. I am waiting for the Garmin 176C soon to grace the new console. I installed a 20 Gallon tank inside the swing back seat and plumbed my fuel system to run additional tanks in front of the console for longer trips.

It is powered by a 1998 Nissan 90 that I bought this year along with a Bass boat and trailer that I subsequently donated for the tax right off. The motor is near new with less than 60HRS on it. Stainless Prop, motor mounted 1.5 inches up.

I will post how she does after the sea (lake) trial.

Well the first trial was a sucess? Motor ran great, except that I had a problem with the linkage adjustment which limited me to a maximum RPM of 4100. Boat planed at 2600 and at 4100 was clipping right along, it is going to scream after I make the throttle adjustment!

Depth finder has some sort of problem with the transducer, it was picking up the bottom very infrequently.

Other than that it was a good morning. Feels great to have her on the water at last!

Sounds like that boat will be seeing alot of use, especially with some tanks for extended range!
Get it dialed in and it will fly! My 66 had 88hp and it felt like 150hp.
Did you install a new transducer on the Furuno ( the new style with the wheel built in) ?
There are several variables that could cause you not getting the bottom.
I am sure there is some great reference material on this forum.
Keep us posted.
Andy.
