Probably an old question- I just purchased a new 2001 Montauk. I'm looking at the Tempo fuel tanks and the Moeller fuel tanks. Anyone alraedy put one in? I'm wondering what size will fit (including the fuel cap) under the seat.

The Moeller tank is 26 gallons, and the Tempo tank is 28. Either works, and are about $105 bought right (Cabela's or Bass pro).

The cap for either brand tank should not go under the seat. They are designed this way. That way you will not have to unstrap it for filling, and will not impede your necessary "heel space" when driving the boat standing.

If you don't mind paying 3 1/2 times as much, the Pate 27 gallon fiberglass tank is your best solution.

Thanks for the info. I think I'll go with one of those tanks. You'd think Whaler could make a tank that size standard. It wouldn't add too much to the price and be a great selling point- just another quality feature to a quality boat.

As a side, someone about a year ago did a test on the seams on the Moeller and Tempo plastic tanks. Well, the Moeller one the burst test, so price for price I would go for the Moeller. Jack.

I noticed the Tempo tanks has an indented area on the bottom for where the fuel line comes up through the floor. Does the Moeller have the same thing? Thanks for the help
