New 15 Whaler on the way!

Talked to a long time Whaler dealer this weekend, according to him the factory has 'unoffically announced' that a new 15 sport is in the pipeline. He thinks, and I have to agree, that it will be a cross between the new 13 and the new 170. If you took the classic, added a little depth to the outer sponsons (stability)4 inches in width (center console)and 2 or 3 inches of freeboard? Would be heavier by a couple of hundred pounds and need a 70 to cruise,,,might be a good craft only time will tell.
The one thing that he was concerned about, I would be too if I were a dealer or a prospective buyer, Whaler is pushing hard for a "Full Brunswick Package" everything boat, engine and even trailer would be Brunswick, you could not just buy the boat. This could backfire for Brunswick, although I have nothing against Mercury if I am spending the bucks Brunswick is asking for their 'packages' I would like to have the option of different engines ect. Or if I have a good usable trailer why should I buy another?
IMOP 9.9K for a 13 with a 40 is TOOO much, there are a lot of good rigs out there as good for less especially if I cannot chose the engine I want.
My 03, ya got it for free!

In the early 80s I wa a Glastron, Carlson, Bayliner & Mercury dealer, Glastron was my number 1 line. Bayliner came out with the Capri line, it came with a Force engine and an Escort trailer no exceptions. Sales went through the roof, it was affordable.
Other than the fact that Mercury and Whaler are both Brunswick companys the factory rig packages do lower the cost to the consumer. You can't buy the components seperatly and put the package together any where near the price of a factory package.
If you are dead set against the trailer or engine on one of these packages work with your dealer, most will make adjustments but it is going to cost.
