Just finished a tiny project on my hull. I got tired of having to remove the little plastic cover over the bilge every few months or so to clean out the crud, and after I had a run in with a nasty little wolf spider that decided to take refuge their for the winter, I decided to make a change. I removed the piece, took it to Tap Plastics, and had them cut me a piece of Polycarbonate that was the same size. After finishing and drilling the holes, I put it back into place. Sure is nice to be able to see into there now. Used fast cure 5200 which is not supposed to stick too well to plexiglass. I used a generous bead around and extra into the screw holes. I am hoping that if all goes well, the 5200 will actually not adhere too well to this stuff, but rather stick to the gel coat firmly. If that is the case, then it will have formed anice watertight gasket which will still allow me to remove the plate rather easily in the future for access inside if I need it. Any of you guys ever use 5200 with plexi or polycarbonate before?
