Curious what is the rpm vs mph ratio? What is the formula that is used?

Thanks,

Digs1622,

There is no simple formula correlating engine speed with boat speed. There are many other parameters involved.

I do not mean to say that there is no relationship between RPM's and boat speed of course. With any given boat with a given motor, a given prop and a given load, there will be increase of boat speed with an increase of engine speed. This relationship is not linear and will also vary due to other factors like water condition, engine trim, ect.

If you are curious about Clark Robert's boat speed prediction formula you can read about it in Jim Hebert's reference article on Propeller Basics, Part I: http://continuouswave.com/whaler/reference/prop1.html
