I was out in some snot today,Lovin my whaler for the reason I bought her when my bow locker cover went balistic on me and scared the heck out of me!!This is a new to me whaler, she is a 1988 18 outrage. This is the sixth boat I have owned and I finally got it right.I LOVE THIS BOAT!The boat before was a 24 proline and this boat will kick its a-- any day.Enough ramblin,The day I picked up the boat I knew the cover was goin to blow.I see on the under side a hookamajig but what holds her down?? Thanks John

Yup. Hook a bungee to the loop in the locker and to the loop on the underside of the cover. Then she stays put.

Good luck.

If that doesn't work for you, several guys have hinged the covers along the starboard long edge.

If you have a "hefty" mother-in-law, that's her seat!

That mother in law thing is a good idea.I am just afraid that if she gets air borne she going to hit me and knock my dam eye out. What was Whaler thinking with this design?

I have the same problem on my 87 18' OR. I would like to eliminate the bungee and use hinges. Does anyone know if there is wood backing along the edge to mount the hinges?

There have been quite a few models of WHALER where the bow locker cover was retained principally by gravity.

On my otherwise perfectly intact 1976 15-SPORT, the original bow locker cover is missing.
