I just got my first edition of WhalerNews. This is an electronic newsletter sent out by the Whaler factory. Impression:

Somewhat short on content, but at least an attempt to communicate with Whaler owners. Of course there is the obligatory sales article on the new OR27 and Merc optis. Additional short pieces on Bonito (little tunny) and a recipe cooking fish asian style.

One interesting section is the feedback item. You can request topics you'd like to see covered and remarks of written articles. I sent in a request for something to be written about "classic" whalers, just to see if anyone is actually listening, or if it's just lip service. We'll see!

Anyone else signed up for the e-mail newsletter??

Yes, I got mine today also. I agree, good concept, but low on content.

I would like to see more information on the smaller boats.

First impression - I hope it won't focus on Mercury outboards forever. I know the parent company owns both Whaler and Merc, and I know there is a lot of interest in Mercs, but not everyone owns (or wants to own) a Merc. Maybe some articles on other outboards as well, or an article or two comparing different brands, 4 stroke vs. 2 strokes, etc. would be interesting.
