Has anyone ever replaced a trim pump/unit? I just lost mine on my '87 Johnson 200.

Looks like top seal on the ram went but I'd like to replace the whole unit. I'm reasonably mechanically inclined and don't want to wait til August for a shop to fix.

I had to replace the motor on my 87 Johnson 70 and it was not very difficult. I had to losen the engine from the boat to allow the trim tilt unit enough space to clear some screws.

Change the seal. Trim units are big bucks.

Pull trim unit out.

Unscrew top of cylinder.

Pull out piston

Replace oring

Good luck
