Hi -I am going to put a bigger (fixed) tank in my 1962 Whaler, and am considering the Tempo (either red 'portable' or black "below deck' models since my seat is not an RPS, I can do just about anything.
However - there is a marine place near me that has a suitable aluminum tank for less (it was surplus) - My question is: is an aluminum tank suitable for above deck mounting in a Whaler? I do some pretty good pounding running around here, and worry that it might be harder on the deck or more prone to cracking/leaking than the plastic.
Also - my OB is a Suzuki. While I have the chance, I am considering changing everything to a more 'standard' mount (the older Suzi mounts are oddballs) Should I go with a Merc or Johnson fitting? What's a good fitting and more common?
