I found the following whaler outrage for sale. The guy wants 19,995.00. I went to look at the boat and it is like new. Is this a fair price. What would this boat cost new?

1999 Boston Whaler Outrage 17,center console, 17'6",
Johnson 115hp,
Eagle tandem axle trailer, brakes,
bimini top, rod holders & table,
large livewell, built-in fuel tank,
Humminbird graph, compass, tiedowns,
bow anchor locker, cooler w/ seat cushion,
Super condition - ready to fish!!

Considering the bashing I got for asking $19,900 for a $25,000 Montauk, you will get nothing but negatives.

The boat would be very attractive with more power. It weighs 1700 pounds. The top end calculates to 32mph with only 115hp.

Good luck.

JB:

I just finished the break in period on my 18 OR today. I repowered with the F115. With a full tank of gas (which may last all summer - not sure why the dealer filled it up!!) I think top end will be 42-44 mph on GPS. I would suspect the Johnson would perform much better with the reduced weight.

Now, 4 people and a full tank might be another story!!

That is one SWEET engine!!1

ECUSeaPA.

Your OR18 dry weighs 1250lb, 450lb less than the deeper SeaRay OR-17.

My son in law has a '96 OR-17 with new 150hp carbed Johnny and it will barely top 40.

That "Improved ride" comes at a price. He bought that fake Whaler with a '99 Ficht 150 on it and the engine lasted 2 weeks. He just loves to ignore the old man's advice.

I may end up putting a EFI DF115 or F115 on my OR-18; your report is very encouraging.

Is that this boat in Ohio?

http://adcache.boattraderonline.com/6/8/6/25793286.htm

The boat looks sharp and that trailer is very nice ($$$), too bad Johnsons were gray in '99 and not white.

I think $19.9K is a fair asking price for this boat. Check out the other new style ('96 - '99) Outrage 17s on yachtworld.com or boattraderonline.com and you will see prices of $15K - $25K.

That boat has been for sale for a long time, offer $17,000 and see what happens.

I suggest you keep looking...I wouldn't even consider Johnson power...Since they've been bought out by Bombardier, I've heard nothing but Horror stories from friends in the business...Oh, and that rig is way overpriced...Good luck!

Johnson makes a great outboard. The price of the boat is what you are willing to pay for it. You are gonna find a million people that tell you it's too much or maybe it's even a steal. What it boils down to is how many of those boats are available in your area and what are you comfortable paying for that boat. I see very few Outrages advertised here so naturally, the price will be higher here than in an area where everybody on your block is trying to sell one.

Yes the boat is in Ohio.

I tried to make an offer. I was thinking around 17,500.00. The boat is a brokerage boat and the dealer said that the guy won't take a penny less than 19999.00. He wouldn't even take my offer to the guy!

What does a new 18ft Dauntless cost new with comparable power?
