I am going to pick up my new Whaler tonight. (Well not new, but new to me) Bought a 1980 Montauk with a 1993 90hp Johnson. Boat is in pretty nice shape for the age.

Does anyone have the original specs for the 1980 montauk as well as some detailed pictures so I can determine what might not be original?

Thanks in advance.

jk, Look in the refence section under 16-17 Models. You will also find many photos of Montauks throughout Cetacea. Regards, Jay
P.S. Cogratulations on your new boat!

I hope I didn't overpay.

The boat is clean with a trailer, radio, depth finder, anchor, 1993 90HP power trim/tilt and oil injected.

I paid $6,000.00

Thoughts?

jklaiber,

I think you did very well.

What exactly do you want to know? As Jay points out, there is much information in the reference section as well as many many photos in the Cetacea section.

Do you have a photo of your boat you could post a link to? That would help us to help you.

jklaiber,
I have owned a 1978 Montauk for about 15 years now. I have some original Whaler Catalogs and Whaler Option Catalogs from the mid 80's... As Tom points out, if you have photos, we could not only get a look at your nice boat but we could tell you what is probably original and what might not be..
I wouldn't even consider selling my boat for the price you got yours for... I would rather be buried in it....

You did NOT overpay!!! I am on the hunt for a Mauntauk, and a deal like that would end my hunt in short time!!

Thanks guys. I was hoping that was a good price. Based on my research I thought it was. I have a digital camera, but how can I post a picture. Can I do it here?

I will be happy to post some pictures. I would like to see what is not original and what is not.

I would also like to get a hold of an original brochure or at least a copy of one.

Also are there Whaler Parts websites where you can by classsic parts?

Thanks

jklaiber,

Take a photo or photos and email them to me and I can tell you what you have.

I am sure everyone else would like to see too so you might find out how to post photos on your own web space. Almost all ISP's provide some space for each of their subscribers. I'm sure you have some too even if you are not aware of it.

Once you have uploaded your photos to your web space you can cut and paste the url to a post here on the FORUM and we will all be able to see the photos.

Yes there are several sources for Whaler parts. Search through the OEM section of the FORUM. Be sure to expand the list of threads to the full two years.
