I recently built a super sport console for my 1981 13' Sport. However, i am having trouble transferring the steering system (Teleflex Safe-T Quick)from the old, original console to the new one. I removed the center cap as well as the nut securing the actual wheel to the shaft rising out of the steering mechanism, but to my surprise, it didn't come off. I know this sounds like a stupid question, but how do you get the steering wheel off?

Thanks,

Brad

Saturate the threads well with WD-40, let sit an hour or two, then while exerting steady outward pressure on the wheel (trying to pull it off), tap lightly on the end of the threaded stud with a hammer. I like to have the nut turned on just flush so that if my aim is bad, I don't mess up the threads.

p.s. - these type of questions should really be asked in the "repairs/mods" section. In fact if you do a search in that section, you will find more than you ever wanted to know about the topic.
