As I've stated in the past I'm in the market for a Montauk and so I've been reading every (I hope) "for sale" board in the country including all newspapers in my state (NJ) and my son's (NC). If I find one that satisfies my picky nature I'll buy it. With that said....in the last 3/4 months I've come across a number of boats that looked good but they had been repowered with recent (2000 or 2001) Johnsons. Please, my own personal request, if you need to repower and you know that you're going to sell - put some extra cash into the engine, you will get it back in your sale price. Another rambling statement - if possible when the boat sells - please remove it from the "for sale" board. I'm getting "older" and it's embarrasing when I ask the seller questions for the second or third time and the boat was sold a month ago. Thanks...(flame suit on)..Jim

JFM, Bombardier is making New parts for the older OMC`s, I just bought a Power Pack for my 75` 85h.p. Johnson for a backup, and I asked that question and the dealer said he has already gotten parts for older engines in with the Bombardier name on the box!!! Good news for sure!! Jack. |

Other than a carburator problem (porosity - it leaked out the intake big time) my 2001 Johnson seems to be running well. It was fully warranteed. |
