I was thinking that those of us here in the Southern California area need to have a get together like they always do back east.

I'll put together a roster, etc. Who is interested? If you don't want to post an email or phone number here -- use this email:

Maybe the channel islands?

I don't know how encompassing the "area" is in Southern Cal Area but, there are so few Whalers in southern Nevada that I would travel to share in the Whaler experience.

I would be interested, if anyone is in san diego, buddy boaters are the best way to fish; the islands, la jolla, the banks, always great to see more whalers out there.

Never been to the channel islands, whats the distances/fishing etc like?

Sounds like a good idea to me. one day at the end of a trip to the nine mile bank. I was docking the boat, and saw a bw at the dock. I starting talking to him. I told him that was a site named (continuouswave). his reply ya I'm Bajachief nice to meet you. we e/m each other and made a trip on my boat the nine mile bank. (twenty fish trip)
BIG FUN!

Seems like the nine should be heating up in the next month. If the rumors of dorado off of oceanside are true and we could get some good paddys to float by, me and my little 15 could actually get some decent size fishin on the boat rather than the calicos that it is used to.

Sounds like a great idea. I haven't been to the northern islands in years. Great place for a rondevue, er roundayvu, get together. Lots to see and do and buddy boating would be worthwhile idea up there.

Late summer/early fall? Best weather of the year and the water's still warm.

This is great idea except that I'm moving "Victoria" from Channel Islands Marina to Huntington Harbor Marina this Saturday (7/13). How about Catalina LOL.
