I know the subject seems to sound a little lude but I am seriously concerned about possible problems. I'm looking at a "71" 13' Sport and am wondering if the "94" Mariner w/ a 20" shaft will function well without raising it on the transome as I saw it done in the Catea pages on a "62" Sport. I'd appreciate any advice from those of you who may have experience with this type of quesiton/problem Thansk....

From what I understand, you don't want to do it. I have been told you will lost speed and control, and that it's just not worth it.

My advice would be to look into a manual jack plate. They are fairly cheap for a motor that small.

Davem,
All you have to do is bolt the 20" motor on the lowest bolt holes of the motor and raise it up.

If you want you can use a block of wood to raise the transom, build the transom up (pain in the butt) or use a jack plate.

This would not keep me from buying the boat if everthing else is in good condition.
Regards, Jay
