You know it's a weekend when what you see on the water won't surprise you! Today while anchored with hundreds of boats at Wingearsheek Beach along the Annisquam River, a 1970-ish Montauk dragging it's anchor managed to navigate thru all these boats without hitting one! When I noticed that no one was aboard,I realized I was boxed in by others who all had fore and aft anchor lines so all I could do is watch. What was incredable was that the last manned boat that could assist was right in the path of this wayward Montauk. They were able to "corral" it and re-set it's anchor. The owner probably was going nuts when he or she discovered it missing. A walk about a 1/4 mile down the beach would bring some relieve. And a good lesson on what happens when you don't properly set your anchor!
