I've read some of the posts on how to mount kickers on varioius types of whalers and haven't ran across this problem yet.I have a 1991 17 Outrage, serial number A90124. The reason I mention the serial number is all 17' Outrage made after A90250 had "pony motor wood added to the transom".
All I have on either the port or starboard side is foam filled between the fiberglass. I have positively confirmed this :-(
If I had wood in the transom like the Montauk or newer Whalers, there would be no problem. I do troll with the kicker or at least plan to, and SeaTow is not available in some of the areas I fish, so I couldn't use Bigshots suggestion he mentioned in a different post.
So the question is: How do I mount a bracket to the transom? A custom made bracket or adding wood support between the fiberglass (as BW suggested)? Anyone had to deal with this issue? Any ideas, suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks, Marc...
