I just bought a 13' sport and I am curious about the year. Crummy repaint has rendered the hull number unreadable. It was registered before as a '72 but my question is when did Whaler move away from the transom support that goes all the way across the back to the c-shape well I see in the 13' reference pics? Mine has a sort of second transom running all the way across the back about ten inches in front of the transom(15"). I know this height makes it older than mid '72. Any other input? Thanks. And thanks for the fantastic web site. What an education.

Hello -
Check this:

In 1971, BW changed the motor well design, so yours is a pre-1971 hull. Have fun with it. I'm trying to find one myself to fix up.

Actually I believe the Transom was changed in 1972 or 1973, I had a 1971 `13 Sport and it had the straight walled transom, I loved it, I used the transom for leaning my rods against and as a livewell!! Jack.
