I'm looking for a maintenance/repair manual for a 2001 90 horse Merc. (2 stroke) Is the year 2000 the same motor? Haven't seen one for the 2001 year. What's a good place to look?

Your best bet is to order one directly from Mercury. They are excellent and contain everything you will need. I think they cost about $45.

Mercury seems to have no qualms about selling their shop manuals to the public.
When I tried to buy a Yamaha manual the dealer told me they were not for sale. I don't know if that it the official policy of Yamaha or just some hair-brained dealer trying to boost his service department work. Anyone know if Yamaha manuals are available?

Talked to the people at Yamaha parts, they refered me to a company in LA, Crestec Inc. Called them and they said they would not sell direct to public BUT you could order a manual through the dealer.
If a dealer will not sell me a manual he sure as hell isn't going to sell me parts!
I have a Yamaha dealer here I will check next week about ordering manuals.

For the European produced models you can download these on the internet.
Go to: http://www.marinepower.com/
Choose for: 'Download Center' and next for 'Operation and Maintenance Manual'
Choose your language and answer the questions. You will find all manuals in pdf-format.
