I stopped at a local dealership the other day to talk to a friend that works there and to my suprise I see a '93 13 sport with a 2001 Merc 50 2stroke that was just taken in on trade. The boat was very clean. I had bench style seats with a small side console for guages and wheel, even had a fishfinder! The trailer was fairly new also. I asked the salesman how much and he responded $6800 due to the clean condition. I passed and went into the office. I started to talk with my buddy and the owner walked in, started BS'ing and asked me what I am gonna buy. I told him I would take the whaler, he said fine $4500 cash now. Out came money, hooked up boat and went home!! The salesman was pissed!! Owner felt as though he would end up sitting on the boat through the winter and wanted to just move it. Timing is everything I guess. I thought it was a fair deal. Does it sound like I got away in good shape??

Nice deal, especially if the motor has a warranty. That boat will do 40+mph, so be careful.

The fact that this little boat has a 50 on the back seems to raise differing views. Is it unsafe with this much power?

The 50 won't be a problem if driven wisely and safely. There are some Classic fans on here who despise overpowering, but then again I have seen a 70 on a 13'. Just be safe and have fun.

Keys Nole, did you see the 70 hp on the 13' while it was underway? I could not even image the stern didnt go under. Unless it was a 2 cyl 70 hp, but I have never known or seen one. I have 2 cyl 50 hp and it wieght 180 lbs. Sounds like the ultimate ticket to end up on REAL TV to me!
