Anybody know if & where parts are available for pedestal seats for 85-90 Revenge? They're smaller in diameter than most. |

Yes, they are available. The manufacturer's name is molded on the bottom of the seat: Springfield. |

Are the seats smaller in diameter or the pedestals? I've been looking at a pair of Todd seats with mahogony back slats for my new Revenge. I know theres a lot to be said for sticking with OEM parts but those Todd seats would sure look good with all that brightwork in a whalerdrive Revenge |

The seat pedestal size in my 1987 Revenge is 2 1/2" OD. Most of the replacements now seem to be 2 7/8" (or 2 3/8"). Does anyone know if 2 1/2" was stock? |

I bought my 1979 V-22 revenge with no seats. But the pedastals and bases were with it. I bought new Todd seats. I noticed that the OEM posts came off at both ends. The Todd post stays with the base and won't come off. I was hoping to be able to change the seat for a Todd single leaning post once in a while, but the Todd leaning post, has the post attached permanently to the lean/seat part...not interchangeable.....just info Dave |

Here is what I know about Swivel Seats and their Pedestals as I have been looking and wanting. 1. The Outrage seats from 1980 to 1989 were made by Springfield. They have an 8 bolt hole pattern on the bottom of the pedestal. They have a plastic Fishing Rod Gimbal and the brackets for these are welded to the seat frame. The pedestals themselves are 2 1/2" in diameter with no plastic bushing. 2. The Outrage seats from 1990 to ??? were also made by Springfield. They have a 6 bolt hole pattern on the bottom of the pedestal. They have an Alumiinum Fishing Rod Gimbal and the brackets for these are bolted to the frame. The pedestals themselves are 2 7/8" in diameter with a plastic bushing. 3. The 1980's Seats have about a 1" taller back then the 1990's.... (I like this)... I have contacted Springfield about the possibility of obtaining a few of their original Fishing Gimbals (Plastic or Aluminum).... They wrote me back and said that they are no longer available and that they haven't made them for almost 15 years. jimh, |

I almost forgot.... The cushions from the 1980's seat fits the 1990's seat perfectly except the straps that hold them to the seat are different. I will not go into the difference here unless someone asks me.... |

Thanks to whalersman for his tour-de-force recap of the pedestal seat situation. I was not aware of the size change. That will make me take better care of the Springfield seats on my 1987 Whaler. Sounds like it will be a problem to replace them. I don't know if this relates to the seats, but Springfield had a fire at their plant a few years ago. This resulted in some tooling being destroyed and ultimately some products being dropped from their line up. |

Finally got around to checking out the seats in my 89 Revange. They are OEM Springfield seats on 2 7/8" OD pedistals. They have nylon bushings which brings the OD to 3 1/8". My seats are broken where they attach to the sliders and the sliders are corroded. This weekend, I checked out the Todd seats that I mentioned in my above post. The measurements are the same and BoatUS has the complete package with pedistal for $279.00 each. I don't know how much the Springfield seats are but these are really nice seats at a pretty good price. As I said, the mahogony slats in the backs would look great with all the Whaler wood. Worth checking out! |

[After seven years, this discussion has been revived to ask:] Which seats are installed? |

Jtyson--Perhaps you could explain what you are asking. I am afraid your question makes no sense to me. |

I have Todd aftermarket seats on my Revenge. The helm is a leaning post and passenger is a regular seat. The problem with this configuration is that there is very little room to pass between the seats to access the companionway. I itially had two Todd seats, and went with the leaning post to get more room, but even so, there is not ample room without swiveling the passenger seat to access the cabin. When I bought my boat it did not have the OEM seats--I would hope that OEM would have allowed much more room between the seats--otherwise this was a bad design from the beginning. http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v383/jmarlo/?action=view& current=IMG_0005-1.jpg http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v383/jmarlo/?action=view& current=IMG_0004.jpg |

jmarlo's REVENGE is the older style. The cabin and helm area are set inside the normal gunwales of the OUTRAGE hull. On the newer REVENGE Walk-Through boats the cabin and helm area are wider. The difference is probably about eight inches. The extra width probably eliminates the problem with the helm seats interfering with access to the cabin. |
