Brother law has a 1998 17 Outrage II with all the options. In his fishbox in the floor there is a small hole 3/4 the way up the starboard side of the fishbox. NO plug 1/2 inch diameter plastic insert. Question is if water goes into hole then where would it go? Is this a factory hole or did dealer do something? What is the purpose.

PSW,

Are you talking about the large in deck box behind the helm seat?

Is the hole on the vertical face of the box just under the wiring and hose bundle for the bilge pump?

If the answers are yes. I believe it is a drain for any water which might accumulate around the gas tank.

No it is on the wall of the box not in the actual bilge hole you were referring to. Thanks for the help though.

I have a 1996 17 OR. If you are standing with your back to the motor and face to the console do you see the pipe when you open the hatch? Mine had a plastic box around it. This is a drain for water around the gas tank and where the bilge hose pumps to the side of the boat. If this is not the location pleae let me know and I will look at mine and find out for you. STan

PSW,

The hole I am refering to is on the wall of the box towards the bow. The hole is located about 2/3 of the way down the wall and below the hole where the hose/wiring bundle for the bilge pump exit the box.
