Since selling my 83 Montauk w/ 91 Johnson 100 power this summer I have been searching for a replacement whaler that I finally found this past weekend. I had been looking at the 18 Outrage, 17 Outrage I, and the Montauk. I looked at a few boats here in the NW and they were all in subpar condition.

The only reason I sold the 83 was that the hull when I purchased it was a 5 and after putting countless accessories and hours into the boat, you can only do so much to make a 5 look like a 7. The engine was also a 91 GT 100, that as many of you may know idles rough and hates wearing paint (apparently OMC did not like primer that year). So I sold. I wanted a pristine whaler that turned heads.

Finally that pristine whaler was found. Sure enough it was owned by and aquaintance that I have known for years. I heard he was looking for an Outrage II, so I went up to his house and I was sold the second I walked into his 40X40 shop.

The boat is a 1991 Montauk with all the teak on it and has a flawless 1991 Merc 115 for power. Evertything is original including RPS seat cushion and matching cooler cushion in front. Multiple boat covers, EZ loader bunk trailer, and no no no screw holes and shit mounted anywhere. I swear this boat is a 9. I looked in the anchor locker and it does not even have a scratch. It also has the most heavy duty ski pylon I have seen on a whaler. I can't say enough good things about this boat as it sits in my garage. I think the 115 is going to be just perfect power for the boat.

Oh by the way the owner I bought the boat from found his Outrage II already and it sits beside his flawless mid 80's Revenge in the garage. He is a whaler nut too, I told him of the site but he does not spend much time on the Web.

I failed to mention that the reason I chose another montauk is because I use it at our family beach cabin a lot and it launches the easiest and is the best for our all around use since my dad has a 25 pursuit I use for the overnight stuff.

Sorry so long I am just tickled to have found my new baby.

Sounds like a great boat. Glad to hear you found what you were looking for. That rig should fly with a Merc 115 on the back.

I'm repowering this winter so I'll probably take the opportunity to move my Montauk from a 6 or 7 to a 9+. We use our boat A LOT... and it starting to show. Good cleaning, some gelcoat repairs and newer power and hopefully it will be looking as good as yours.

Regards,
Mike

I bet we'd be STUNNED at the number of Whaler enthusiasts out there who have never been on the web or even used a computer. Don't only approx one third of US homes have a computer with Internet access? Kevin
