I hear a lot of Edgewater looks like Whalers, and I hear the same about Wahoo too. Note, they are NOT built the same even if Dougherty designed them. Wahoo hulls were not foam filled like Whalers except under the decks. They could not be built the same because they use a two part hull, and inner and outer.
Edgewater boats especially in the 20' and up are no better than anybody else. They are not foam filled hulls like Whalers, and you split one in half my money is on the Whaler, not the Edgewater. Like I said in another post, just take your hand and bump the side of one, they are hollow. No foam behind that glass on the gunwhales. Just take a boat paddle and stick through the side and see if it will float!
Not saying they are bad boats, just not Whalers or anything like them. Just cause it looks like one doesn't make it one.
And again for the people who bash the new Whalers, you guys are invited to come take a ride in my Outrage 21 or Conquest 23. To me Whaler is keeping up with the times without giving up there core philosophies. Few people these days are going to buy a 22' Center console without built in console heads, in-deck fish boxes, large capacity fuel, washdown pumps, and built in live wells. Whaler has done this and made their boats looks "blend" with the times.
Ford would not be in business if they didn't quit making Model T's, guess those Model T lovers out there hate the new F-150's etc...
