I have recently acquired a 73 13 foot classic and have to choose between two motors. The boat came with a 97 Nissan 2 cylinder 40 h.p. but I also have a 2001 3 cylinder 35 h.p. Johnson available as well. Does anyone have an opinion about which would be the better package?

The Johnson would probably be more realiable. I have a 97 40 HP Merc on a similiar hull. 4 cyl. It flies just over 40 MPH. If you are letting younger kids use that boat stick w/ the 35 and make sure they wear the engine cutoff switch.
Also what is the weight difference. Lighter is better

Good Luck

I hate to differ with my buddy, but the Nissan (Tohatsu) is a GREAT engine. Leave it on and save the other. Steve

Same priec? What is the deal? I would take that 3cyl over the 2 cyl any day. Those Nissan engines are good but that 3cyl OMC is great and 4 years newer.
