no boating publication that I know of has written an article and sea tested this boat? The Montauk may be one of the most historic and important boats ever made. I subscribe to Trailer Boats magazine (great mag) and have not seen even a mention of this news making event. Have I missed an article somewhere?

Chesapeake Bay Magazine did a short writeup on the 170 late last year, maybe October or November. It wasn't a "full-length" review, and so it doesn't appear on their website, www.cbmmag.net. They made very positive comments, though it's pretty rare to find a magazine that ever says not-so-nice things about a new boat. Especially when there are a couple Whaler ads in the same issue...

most magazine articles describing new models are little more than very wordy advertisements. The articles are usually tied to large advertising purchases, thereby making them somewhat biased.
