Most Bertram models sold less than a 1,000 hulls, and they were all much more expensive than a Boston Whaler boat. These two factors probably affect the number of owners or potential owners who might be able to contribute to a website. We are blessed on continuousWave with a number of contributors who combine a thorough knowledge of the subject with the ability to write clearly. These terrific authors have given freely of their time to build the collected information available here. |

Are you considering getting into a Bertram 31? I'm currently a Whaler owner and have been considering the B31 as my next boat. I've been following the B31 website (link above) for about 2 years now and I'm coming to the conclusion that it's going to take close to $100K to get a solid, reliable B31. That means a minimum of $60K initial investment, no matter what the condition is and at least another $40 in engine, driveline, steering, exterior, interior, ect, etc. to get it where I want it. Take a look at the B28. There allot more plentiful, lower priced and roomier. Similar style boats are Blackfin 29 and Phoenix 29. Good luck! |

I've owned a 25,28 and 31 ft Bertram at different times. I still at points regret selling the 31, as the prices have gone up so. The 25 is a very good boat and is actually a shrunken 31. The 28 is a different hull and does not offer the ride of the 31. Great boats (31) ..... wet boats .. have a good enclosure or great foul weather gear. I sold my 31 due to tiny interior space. Consider it a day boat. One rainy weekend away made me realize the need, but I will say that I was one proud puppy when I had a 13 whaler tied on the side of a 31 Bertram. |

My next boat will be a Bertie 28. Just love that boat and easy to maintain, etc. Twin SBC are good on gas as well without the need for diesel(but 4cyl Yanmars would be sweet). |

We were on vacation in Carolina Beach, North Carolina. We almost bought a 46 Bertram Sportfish. But it was a retired fishing machine. The boat has been painted, and no emblems or bow rail. It needed major interior work. After looking at that boat, we found our Carver. JAZZ |

Wonderful boats. JAZZ |

There is a place in Deale, MD that sells refurbished 31's for $125,000+. While I have not seen one in person, I hear that they do a good job. |

About 5 or 6 years ago a retired guy from Florida had a beautiful, completely restored, 1983, 25 foot Moppie on our lake. It had 4.3 litre chevy V-6's. He offered it with the trailer for $25,000. Sort of wish I had betten on it. |

Will Are you talking about Worton Creek Marina?....if so they are up the Chester River in Chestertown not in Deale. They bought in auction 3 or more old 31 hulls and refurbed them beautifully. They used to be Va. Marine Patrol boats from the early 70's...all needed serious work and repower. See below. http://www.bertram31.com/articles/soundings/sound3200.htm |

Ship Shape TV has had some shows on the Bertram 31, including installation of 2 new diesels. With my new Tivo system and DirecTV, I'm automatically recording lost of boating and fishing shows. Ship Shape TV airs Sunday mornings at 8:00 am here in the SF Bay Area. Jim |
