Anyone have any pics of door latches on the 89 montauk. I have the locks on them from the original but would like to put sometype of latch on them to keep them closed during rough water rides and still keep them unlocked. They have a tendency to come open even though I have the little brass clasp mounted inside.

chorescanwait,

If you have the brass cabinet latches, they have an adjustment on them so you can tighten them up and make them more difficult, or easier, to open..

On one of the ends of the latch, you should see a recessed screw. Tighten the screw about a half a turn and then open and close the door..

Try it out and let us know....

Just be careful not to overtighten them. If you do it makes it so hard to close the door that you can break the wood that the bracket is screwed into. Happened to me. That door was always flying open. Now I keep it locked while underway with the key in the latch.
