I'm doing all of my last minute rigging in anticipation of getting my hull back from the paint shop next week. While putting a Mercury adapter on my Moller gas tank, it occured to me that Mercury had included a gas line with a primer bulb on it. My engine is an EFI 4 stroke. Do I need a primer bulb or just let the fuel pump do it for me?

Kettering's Law says Merc wouldn't have put on
the bulb if they didn't think it was necessary.

There is good information about Primer Bulbs in "A Primer on Primers", which appeared about a year ago.

the reason for the fuel bulb is to the fuel to the fuel pump, once the fuel pump gets the fuel the bulb is no longer neccessary.
UNLESS the fuel pump looses its prime.

change fuel filter and don't fill new
filter with fresh gas before replacing, vst is drained, or if you run out of gas. the fuel pump will not "lift" fuel for the tank but once it gets the fuel the pump will pump it as high as the ceiling.

bulbs are placed where they are in the fuel line because the same fuel line you get with a 25 hp merc is the same fuel line you get with a 200 v6.

the bulb is in its location because when you put a 25 hp on a skiff "usually" the tank is put directly in front of the engine. when you reach to prime the fuel system the bulb is right there within reach.

you can install the fuel bulb in the front bow locker, where it is installed makes no difference.

ps
i would not buy any TEMPO products, you get what you pay for. i am not saying that everthing that is priced higher is better, but even though oem product cost more they are better in the long run.
pps
i would not have one of those clear glass fuel filters, they fail more than i've seen them do there owners any good get a fuel and water separator. all you have to do is dump it in to a container once a year and check it to make sure it is doing its job. or get a racor and you can look right in the bowl on the bottom of the filter.
