posted 04-30-2003 08:00 PM ET (US)         I was pretty impressed by an essentually home engineered/made hydraulic drive system in a sailboat this weekend. The drive was powered by a 4 stroke honda generator which was light, quiet, and ran the microwave and recharged batteries etc. as well as ran the hydraulic pump/drive. The owner could retract out of the water for fast sailing... andserved steaming hot meals at midnight on the rail. Has anyone ever seen a hydraulic drive on a powerboat... I know a lot of south American boats and larger trawlers use them. How about a 25 footer?
