Boston Whaler offers a complete copy of the PowerBoat Reports survey for owner satisfaction on the Company website. As most might expect, the results are fairly good for Whaler. What surprised me was that Whaler included the entire article which had some not-so-flattering remarks by surveyed owners. It would have been easy for Whaler to put a little blurb on the site and paraphrase some flattering points, but they instead chose to use the whole article. Good for them.

Note: At one point the author points out that the early Whalers were made by "real" boat men like Fisher and Dougherty, etc. Now they're being made by a conglomerate.

I think this is a testament to the fact that though the new Whalers may not be deemed as durable as the classics, they are still the best overall line of boats around. I know I am in the group with the Conquest owners that are 98% satisfied even with the few troubles I have had. No boat is perfect.

If you put in everything, it allows the reader to make an informed decision. If you put in only the positive points, it turns into just another bit of marketing propaganda.

I'm more likely to purchase something from someone willing to admit their product has some flaws (assuming they are flaws that I can live with), than someone who indicates their product is "simply the best, because it is."

I find it interesting that the article claims:
" Whaler boats 20 feet and under are no more or less unsinkable then any other boat. "! !

The article also says that this "unsinkable Legend" is/was simply an early (but brilliant) ad campaign.

Did anyone else catch this?
