My family purchased our 3rd Boston Whaler. We had a 15 GLS in the past and wondered what this is:There is about a 10 in. in diameter a tan circle in the center of it. Its a very dark circle. Is it were it came out of the mold for the hull? Interesting fact: The boat was carried out [left the factory?] on 4/24/1984 and sent to Romps Marine here in Vermilion, Ohio! JAZZ (I have decided to name the new 15, Fan-Mail)

Bugsy -That circle you refer to is the "sprue" hole where the foam is introduced into the mold during construction of the hull. My 15' GLS has the exact same thing, and I suspect most do. There was a mention on this somewhere in the reference section (or perhaps cetecea) that mentioned some models had a "cap" put over this, but mine does not appear to have that cap. It's normal. Joe/BugsyG/JAZZ/FAN-MAIL,I would drop the hyphen in FAN-MAIL. That spelling is not shown in the dictionary. jim/jimh/CONTINUOUSWAVE/CONTINUOUSWAVELET |

Jimh,I see your point clearly. However, I did not ever state that you have to call me anything but Joe. After all, JAZZ and Fan-Mail are just boat names :) Thank you for your post. Buckda, Thank you for yours as well. It helped me understand of how the 15 hull is composed of foam inside. Thank you once again. Joe (JAZZ) |
