LOOKING FOR A FUNCTIONAL BOARDING LADDER TO BE USED ON 2000 13 FT SPORT. IS THERE ANYTHING DESIGNED FOR THIS SPECIFIC WHALER AS CLIMBING INTO BOAT FROM THE WATER CAN BE DIFFICULT.

Look at this site, its got some pretty slick dive ladders. Im looking at one for my 15 ft. GLS. I think the mounting braket will go on the wood insert on the port transom side where the light is sometimes mounted. On the 15 footer the wood is on both sides of the motor well and my stern light is on the starbord side leaving the port side wood free for mounting something like this. Im not sure the 13 has the wood on both sides too?

Wesbar (the trailer light people) makes some very nice boarding ladders. Whaler offerd them as an option on their commercial dive boats. They fold up into a compact unit, about the size of a large lunch box. Also, they cant away from the hull so they are more like stairs than a ladder.

I have a Windline 3 step dive ladder (that floats!)that drops into (and locks) a stainless steel bracket that I have mounted on the starboard
transom. The ladder comes with a black plastic (for lack of a better term) block that I belt sanded to the angle I wanted. Works well so far. The ladder is also available in a four step model. So far, so good. I saw this setup a year or so ago on a 1967 Whaler.

It might be easier to cut the plastic block to shape on a band saw. They do sell an adjustable stainless bracket for mounting the bracket, but I found it could not be adjusted to the shallow angle I wanted.
