I have a 1999 16' dauntless with a 90 merc., and have always been worried about the quality of my hull. I love boston whalers and there duribility but is mine bad? After the first year, i found a spot in my gel that looked pushed in near the front fishing chair in. As i pushed on it touching the fiberglass underneith, the crack grew even more. I Returned it to my dealer, and they said it was an air bubble. By the time they had loosened up the area around it, it was a void nine inches long. I have heard about this in lesser quality boats but in a whaler? I have since found one more small one that was not a big but still question my hull. If was to find another void would they repair it for free after having it for four years now?
Also when I look down the strakes, i can see a little wave in the hull. Is this normal? It seems to me this could affect it perfomance a little. I have heard of people getting their hull replaced because of warping, should i have mine inspected?
