hello everyone, I am looking at a 1990 15ft whaler.is there a way to tell which model it is by looking at the hull Id # ? I looked at the title and wrote the number down for the hull, but I have no idea if the boat is a super sport or some other model. any help would be great. thankyou, dennis

Yes but that involves e-mailing Boston Whaler. Can you describe the boat? If the boat has a wood(varnished-hopefully) interior AND console then it is a sport. If the seats have backrests and there is a storage bin behind the rear seat backrest and a wrap around railing from stern seat around the bow and back, then Super Sport. If interior has dual winshields, fiberglass consoles and fiberglass seats, it is either a Super sport LTD or GLS(almost identical). If it has just a rear bench seat, cooler seat, or pedestal seats and a small CENTER console then it is a Center console. If it has a small SIDE console then it is a bass boat. I think that covers it.

hi bigshot, the boat is a side console with a windshield on starboard side only. It has the bow rail as you have described.the gas tank is located under the bench seat.there are two seats in the bow with the back rests against the console. behind the bench seat is a storage compartment where the battery is located. there is not any teak wood on the boat. the boat comes with a 1990 70 johnson with tilt and trim. the trailor is a 1992 model.the whole rig is extra clean. does 5000.00 sound fair ? I have not bought a boat in twenty years so any guidance would be most helpfull. thankyou, dennis

Sorry about the finger,
Check the reference section, sounds like you have a GLS, 5K is fair if the boat is in good condition.

Early 1990's vintage 15's go for as much $7,000, average around $6,000. Sounds like a better than average fair deal.

Bigshot

Do you know as much about financial planning as you do about whalers? If so maybe you can be my financial planner

Show me the money! ;)

Yes I have been doing it for about 13 years now and my clients are happy. I have no other hobby than boats and motorcycles. Sports & teams change everyday, boats remain constant for the most part.

In Florida $5,000 would be a bargain.
It would sell quickly.

thanks for all the replys!
I picked the boat up last night. I am still not sure what model it is. The boat was brought up here to va. beach from the florida keys. The young man I bought it from was selling it on behalf of his mother. When he called her, she just could not remember the model. In my earlier post i described the boat incorrectly. I had looked at three boats the same day, everything kinda became a blur.If you folks will bare with me I would like to describe it corretly. Working from the stern there is a latched cover that when opened reveals the battery and provides for storage. Forward of the cover is a bench seat, when the seatback is tilted forward the gas tank is exposed. The boat has two consoles. There are no windscreens on either console, though it looks as if there may have been at one time. Just forward in the bow there is another bench seat.If you tilt the seat back foward it reveals a storage area. There is a anchor locker forward of the bench seat. The bow rail wraps around the boat starting from the rear bech seat. With this desription can anyone tell me what I bought ? Thankyou,Dennis

I'm guessing it's a Super Sport Limited, missing the windshields. Go to Cetacea Pages 19, 50, and 64 to look at SSL's and GLS's. Please note that 13, 15, and 17 SSL's all look alike. Are you sure it's the seatback you tilt forward for gas tank access, and not the seat base? Same with the forward bench seat storage. Bob

Hi Bob, thanks for the information. You are correct, the seats tilt not the seat backs.I have all the numbers for the boat and plan on checking with boston whaler.I am trying to get my insurance company to add the boat to my policy and they insist on knowing the model right now. thankyou, dennis

Here is a hyperlink to the Reference section on 15-foot hulls:

Also see this page for more pictures:

If you think you have a GLS, compare it with the boats shown on this page:

Thanks to all for your help. I checked with Mr.Bennet at Boston Whaler and he confirmed my boat as a 1990 15' Super Sport Limited.
