Need pro's & con's on a Homelite Bearcat 55 outboard for a Sakonnett restoration project. Cost to buy one. How well do they run?

I have a 1971 and think its a great motor. It runs smooth quiet and smoke free as a four cylce should. However it currently resides on a stand in my garage awaiting a classic hull to mount onto. I know of a few bearcats in every season use in upstate New York and still running strong. Cost to buy? Thats a tough question as I have seen them from a few hundred dollars up to $2,000. They are an interesting motor that was way ahead of its time and seems to attract a lot of attention. Please see the historical articles in the reference section as there is a link to the bearcat guru from Pennsylvania.

My article about the Bearcat 55 may help you.

They seem to still be popular in northern California.
