I have just had a baby and moved into a new house, therefore I have to get rid of my Whaler. It is a 1979 16'-9" with original 70hp Johnson with 2 yr old trailer. Runs tiptop, and garage kept until two years ago. Excellent shapewith the exception of the wood - all fish needs to be replaced. Also has bimini top and removable panels which form a rear deck if desired (no screws). Can someone tell me what I should expect to sell her for near Houston,TX? Regards, Greg

Hi, Greg.I would say, sight unseen, $2,500 to $4,000, depending on model, rails and hull condition. Good luck. Red sky at night. . . JB |

If you let it go for $4000, you are leaving money on the table. Take the time to sand and oil the teak and detail the boat. Take a look on Boattrader.com to see a good cross section of asking prices. You probably have $1500 into the new trailer alone. |

Hmmm. Andy is assuming it is a Montauk, I am assuming it is a Sport or Standard that has been in salt all it's life. BIG difference. When you say all wood needs replacing, what wood are you talking of? Only a Montauk would have teak. All others would have mahogany. Does the boat have bow and side rails? Does it have a stand-up center console or a sit-down console? Is any console wood or glass? Is the removable rear deck OEM or home-made? Red sky at night. . . JB |
