I saw a Wahoo for the first time yesterday. I saw if on the water, so I did not get to see the inside. It looked like the same hull as a 15 foot whaler. I could see no difference. I'm sure the console and seats are different, but hulls looked like a 15 whaler twin.

My question is,
Is a Wahoo unsinkable like a whaler? And, are the hull built the same way?

Thank you for any help in advance.

Do a search on this. I remember a long thread a while back :).

You could do a Google search on Wahoo boats and get you info first hand...

The Wahoo though it looks like a whaler is not a whaler. My friend has a 16 and it is actually a lined hull. I.e, it is like bigger boats where there is an exterior hull and and interior hull. This is how they were able to have built in gas tanks etc.. on the Wahoos. I have never cut one open to verify if the outer hull is a glass-foam-glass combo like Whaler, but I have seen the void between the inner and outer hulls.

My friend complains all the time about the two drain plugs in the boat, one for draining water out of the void between the two hulls which you can only access from outside the boat. The other is the inner drain plug which drains water from the deck to overboard. He has a leak around where a trolling motor was mounted on the front, and it leaks water in between the hulls all the time, thus forcing him to put the boat on the trailer to drain it if he leaves it in the water tied up during a rain or something.

They are supposed to be unsinkable which is why BW sued them and eventually put a real hurt on the business and advertising.

Wahoos are not Whalers. They are a copy boat. They are not bad boats. Just not a Boston Whaler.. I could have had a Wahoo..I bought a Whaler and am glad I did, the Whaoos are a bit bigger but all in all rails seats all in all I am glad I bought a Boston Whaler Montauk!
