Tomorrow I am having trim tabs installed on my Outrage. The installation will require removing or relocating the grouding plate that grounds out the fuel tank. Is it permissable to eliminate the plate, and tie the ground into the trim tab? The stainless tab, which will never be painted, seems like it might be a better ground than the original round grounding plate?

Any insigt before I make this installation?

Thanks,
Tom

Anyone have an idea if this will work?

If it is too corroded, buy a new one and relocate it.

If it is OK, just move it. Do not eliminate it.

I didn't want to give bad advice so I did some searching and this is what I came up with.

I hope it helps.

I removed (actually it sort of disintegrated) the grounding button when I painted the hull. I grounded to the battery negative terminal and used the hole in the transom for my transponder wire. Seems to work fine.
