I recently bought and installed a product called the "Troll'N Plane" on cavitation plate of my 1996 90 HP Evinrude on a '75 Montauk. The product is a combination trolling plate and fins for additional lift on cavitation plate.

I loved the concept and was pleased with the way bow came down and planed at lower speeds, but experienced the folowing problems:

1. Porpoising at higher speeds (35 MPH and up)
2. Loss of about 2-4 MPH top end speed (was around 42-44)
3. Trolling Plate releases at about 800 RPM...According to manuf. it should not release until around 1500 RPM...I even cut 3 inches off plate to no avail.

I'm curious to hear other expereinces with fins, and if anyone knows of another good dual function product (trolling plate and fins)

Thanks!

I had a Happy Troller and it cause my Dauntless to porpoise like crazy. Much better with just the Doel-Fin.
