We logged 88 miles on the gps today from Morgan City down into the far eastern reaches of Atchafalaya Bay. The tides were predicted to be poor, but we know a deep little cut just before the Gulf that'll have a rippin' current on the littlest tide. It's just so far out we don't run there unless we have to. Came back with our limit of 20 to 24 inch reds, a dozen nice flounder and several keeper drum to boot. The pernt of the story ain't the fish, though. With the dregs o' that hurricane out there and the forecast for skattered T-showers, and the poor gen'ral tide predictions, we encountered exactly four boats, all day, after we left the main river behind. They were as follows: a nice 21' Gravois (especially nice locally maded aluminum-hull sport-fishin' rig), one Montauk, a 18' like ours, and a Outrage 25' with twin blacks on the back. All four knew of our little cut and congregated out there over the course of the day. To mah mind, it goes t'prove, yet again, just who and what will put into the chanciest waters and come home wid the goods.
