Is this an original setup offered by whaler?

1984 25' with mid engine diesel izuzu inboard underneath the console with a jackshaft outdrive.

I can't find any catalog info on such boat.

If Whaler built that, it was a prototype. I doubt they would have used an Isuzu also. They did build some I/O models, which wouldn't be hard to convert to that setup.

I've always felt that the I/O Whalers had too much weight aft. The jackshaft is an excellent solution as long as they didn't make the boat bow heavy.

To me, the boat look heavy in the water... but it does look nice and clean without outboards.
