george nagy	posted 08-29-2003 02:49 PM ET (US)         Is this an original setup offered by whaler? http://www.yachtworld.com/core/listing/pl_boat_full_detail.jsp?slim=quick&boat_id=1133680&units=Feet¤cy=USD&access=Public&listing_id=1575&url= 1984 25' with mid engine diesel izuzu inboard underneath the console with a jackshaft outdrive. I can't find any catalog info on such boat.
doobee	posted 08-29-2003 11:58 PM ET (US)             If Whaler built that, it was a prototype. I doubt they would have used an Isuzu also. They did build some I/O models, which wouldn't be hard to convert to that setup. I've always felt that the I/O Whalers had too much weight aft. The jackshaft is an excellent solution as long as they didn't make the boat bow heavy.
