Been considering adding a speed knob/power knob, alias
"suicide knob" if you driving a hot rod in the 50-60's.
We fish a lot of tight places, bridge abutments, pilings and rock piles where quick steering is helpful. They probably wouldn't be of much value without hyd. steering but look like a nice addition with it. Anyone out there have any experience with them, please, no legal opinions.

I rented my Whaler to a bridge surveyor earlier this year (made $2000 in two weeks). I got the boat back with an "8 Ball" suicide knob (vintage hot rod item.) Works great with cable Teleflex. I left it on.

I had one on a shock boat at my old company. Worked great in tight places. I got my knuckle rapped pretty good a time or tow when the motor hit something but I think all in all it worked great.

Ll.

I run "suicide knobs" on all my boats. I have a generic used one someone can have for say $12 delivered to your door. It bolts to ANY wheel.

For a real slick, custom look, spring for an Edson wheel w/knob... and if you're real crazy about your boat, get a Release Marine one.

We have one on a non-classic (97 17' Outrage) and like it. It is very handy when leaving or going into a slip. It was on the boat when I bought it but it looks like it mighy be factory? Does anyone know?

The Eight Ball knob is available at Pep Boys (at least in California), I know because I have one on my Revenge. The only problem is that it can...umm...reach out and touch you in an inconvenient place if you hit a swell just wrong.

Ouch.

Makes a good lubbers mark on the wheel. Where do you place it, 12 or 3 o'clock?

Barry, I'm interested in purchasing the Seachoice knob also. Where did you pick this up at? Does West or Boaters World have these?

Thank you,
Kevin
