I have an offer on a 2008 150 Montalk of $21,000 BMT with only tax and 250 registration fees. She has the fish package, swim ladder, bimini, and cushions. I also have an offer on the Pioneer 175 DC with a F115 with all its goodies BMT for around $23k. I can't decide what to pull the trigger on even if they are two very different boats. Any help is appreciated. |

Have you considered a used classic 17 Whaler (same weight as new 150)? Then you would have an engine choice-even repowered with new Yamaha you'd save big bucks. Lots of nice 17's out there with good power for $8-$14K. And new trailers are fairly cheap. |

Where do you fish? If you fish the bays and lakes the 15 would be ideal. If your thinking along the coastline, well I think something a little larger would be better. Ken |

You didn't mention what options are included in the montauk offer. |

The 150 Montauk has the fishing package, bimini, 60 Merc Big Foot, swim ladder, and trailer. The Pioneer Venture has F115, bimini, front and rear cusion package, trailer. Whaler is 21k and Pioneer is 23K. Just tax and registration fees are extra. |

$21,000 for the 150 Montauk with the items you listed is full retail according to the Boston Whaler site ($21,117). I would think in today's boating environment you might be able to get a few bucks off the list price. http://www.whaler.com/Rec/default3.asp?boatid=22&content=build2 Good luck, Warren |

There are better prices out there given the present economic climate and certainly negotible.

Was at a Whaler dealer today and they had two 150 Montauks with 60 Merc Big foots (feet?). Both motors made in China. Is the one you're looking at made in China? They may be fine, but I'd sure give that factory a year or two to get the bugs worked out. |

I want to thank everyone for helping me out with this. Since the dealership is not moving on the package price I have decided to hold off. I will watch the prices as we head into the Oct/Nov boat show season. |

The price you quoted for the Pioneer 175 is pretty close to what you may be able to pay for a new 170 Montauk, depending on the extras present or absent from either boat. |
