I'm not sure if this is where to post this question, but I'll start here and let me know if I should post it elsewhere. Yesterday, I put my 170 Montauk in the water and idle out away from the boat ramp and had to go through tall grasses. These are growing really bad this year in the upper Chesapeake. Once out in deep water, I looked back at the "Tell Tale" water stream. It seemed weak and then I looked at the pressaure gauge which was low. Then I realized I had picked up enough grass to block the water intake. I finally noticed that the WHIMPY alarm was buzzing. Wherever it is and whatever kind it is, I could hardly hear it even listening for it. Has anybody had the same issue? If so, has anyone replaced it and with what? I also have a SeaRay that has a warning whistle that comes on evey time you start the engine until the oil pressure comes up. That you can really hear.
