The usual on-line database for manufacturer Identification code (MIC) used in the hull identification number (HIN) required on U.S. boats seems to be broken.

http://www.uscgboating.org/recalls/mic_database.htm

What manufacturer has the MIC of "EKW"?

Hey Jimh the link to the Excel file still works. Download it and it has all the data on EKW. Also check KKS as there is some affiliation there.

Did MARLIN boats of Oregon ever make any splashed-hull copies of a Boston Whaler 17-footer?

I keep trying to figure out the reason why you are asking this here. Surely you are more adroit at online research than most of us here, specifically me. I will say I am happy to play sleuth if you like, as it is the least any of us can do here to help you for the great resource you provide us all.

Here is an image of a 1975 Marlin ski boat. It looks like a miniature 25 foot Boston Whaler Temptation.

Here in the PNW I have seen Marlin boats that are a splashed version of the smirked 16'-7" Whaler hull including the inner liner as well as the console. Cosmetically, a very close imitation of the classic Montauk.

Sorry, search feature of that site is down, but Marlin Boats, White City, OR, is on page 201.

Bob--The search feature is down. See the article which began the discussion.

Tom--Very interesting about MARLIN BOATS of Oregon. They've been under the RADAR for a while, but now they're spotted. I have a couple pictures I will post of a splashed Boston Whaler with their HIN on the transom.
