I was watching a new program on the History Channel today at 8 p.m. The program was on Giant Squids in the Sea of Cortez; this was a new program. Anyway one of the boats in the program had NEW 140 Johnson. I could clearly see it, it was at least a high 1990's model or early 2000. Only got a quick look at the engine but it looked like it was V4 E-TEC. Does anyone know of this line of engines, and was it made only for export?

According to their website, there aren't any recent model 140-HP Johnson-branded outboard motors. |

The Johnson 140 four stroke (made by Suzuki) was sold as recently as the 2006 model year. |

Model year 2005 sounds about right for the History Channel. |

If you check the BRP international websites, you will see they only make 4 stroke outboards from 2.5 to 25 horsepower, yet they show pictures of boats with big motors on them at least 90 and up. I guess they are going through some changes. Keeping the Suzuki 4 strokes? Or going all E-tec? We'll see what the future holds. |

In around 93 OMC dropped the 120 and 140 Loopers and just made a 130hp. This was true until they eliminated it in the early 2000's and picked up the Suzuki 140 4 stroke around 2002/3-2006. They sold all the Suzuki line from 30hp? to 225hp until they went away after 2006 or so. |
