Came across this today. I'm surprised there wasn't more news about plans for Evinrude. Seems like other divisions are the priority, and business is generally slow, as it is for all companies involved in the marine and recreational markets. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/LAC.20080911.BOMBARDIER11/ TPStory/Business . |

I saw that today Larry but I'm surprised that you're looking around our daily newspapers? I spent Labour Day weekend with my boys out at the Westerns, which you may recall are WSW 18 miles out from Sans Souci. Incredibly wonderful weather finally. Anyway, good to see you around. Peter |

Evinrudes European and Middle/Far Eastern sales are gangbusters. Repower here in the states, not to bad. |

For an indication of the global appeal of the E-TEC you just have to browse the popular E-TEC Owner's Forum. The participants are mainly from Europe, South America, the Far East, and the Pacific--the North Americans are almost a minority! The E-TEC is apparently quite popular on a global basis. |

Does the fact that Bain owns 50% of BRP meat that Mitt Romney gets discounts on his E-Tecs? |

I didn't read into the article above enough to take away that Evinrude isn't a priority - being a North American company with a huge market in the Northern Hemisphere, it sounded like they were rolling out new product announcements for the winter-sports related products and ORV's - which makes sense for the fall hunting and winter snomobiling seasons which are right around the corner. He said there are big announcements for Evinrude (new products) to come...my guess is that those will be announced this winter in advance of the spring buying season for outboard motors. As JimH has previously reported, I think we can expect that E-TEC technology has been scaled down to fit the small outboard market for the "gazillions" of aluminum fishing boats in the northern lakes areas of North America and Europe. We already know that Ski-Doo is utilizing the E-TEC injector on some of their snow machines, so the critical component of Evinrude's E-TEC technology is continuing to spread across BRP's product lines. |

Great articles. Sometimes it gets tough to find out what's happening at BRP. Being a private firm makes it difficult. |
